We're out to change the way people think about printing green by offering newly affordable and innovative recycled papers, brilliant soy-based inks, and print-on-demand solutions which all but eliminate waste from outdated, overstocked and obsolete materials.

Undeniably our planet is currently going through some radical changes. Our climate appears to be warming up and mankind’s growing impact on it is being scrutinized. In this context Printing Control has chosen to invest in reducing our own impact as much as possible.

To that end we have installed a distiller on our Heidelberg 6 color, 40 inch press. This expensive piece of equipment distills the waste coming off the press and enables us to reuse over 70% of the solvents used in the printing process. By installing the distiller we’ve significantly reduced our hazard waste and qualified as the only 5 Star EnviroStars commercial printer in the Greater Seattle area.

Part of being an earth-friendly printer is choosing the right inks and Printing Control has been using soy based inks for the past 5 years. Soy based inks have helped us reduce the amount of chemistry needed to clean our presses.

One of the other ways any printer can help reduce the overall environmental impact of our industry is to advise clients about the right choice of paper stocks. We have created a spreadsheet of the most environmentally friendly papers for our clients to choose from.
